Panic

This week's book:

Panic
Sharon M. Draper
262 pages

Overview:Direct from Barnes and noble.com(http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/panic-sharon-m-draper/1111396328?ean=9781442408968)
This gripping, chillingly realistic novel from New York Times bestselling author Sharon Draper, “by turns pulse-pounding and inspiring” (Kirkus Reviews), shows that all it takes is one bad decision for a dream to become a nightmare.
Diamond knows not to get into a car with a stranger.
But what if the stranger is well-dressed and handsome? On his way to meet his wife and daughter? And casting a movie that very night—a movie in need of a star dancer? What then?
Then Diamond might make the wrong decision.
It’s a nightmare come true: Diamond Landers has been kidnapped. She was at the mall with a friend, alone for only a few brief minutes—and now she’s being held captive, forced to endure horrors beyond what she ever could have dreamed, while her family and friends experience their own torments and wait desperately for any bit of news.
From New York Times bestselling author Sharon Draper, this is a riveting exploration of power: how quickly we can lose it—and how we can take it back.
 My Opinion:

This is a powerful book. You cannot just not feel moved with the message behind the book. Sharon Draper is a fabulous author who always hits on real-life issues. I've waited to read Panci for a long time now, but when I did I almost cried. She wrote about this in such a beautiful way that I was overwhelmned with emotions. Please read and maybe even pass it along. Because you never know what people are going through until you expirence it yourself or maybe even read a book about it steping into that person's shoes.

P.s. On a happier note, my school's reading bowl gined 2nd place and are goung on to regionals. Best thing ever!!! I've never made it that far before. ;)

Curveball: The year I lost my grip

Sometimes, the greatest comebacks take place far away from the ball field.

Meet Peter Friedman, high school freshman. Talented photographer. Former baseball star. When a freakish injury ends his pitching career, Peter has some major things to figure out. Is there life after sports? Why has his grandfather suddenly given him thousands of dollars worth of camera equipment? And is it his imagination, or is the super-hot star of the girls' swim team flirting with him, right in front of the amazing new girl in his photography class? In his new novel, teen author Jordan Sonnenblick performs his usual miraculous feat: exploring deep themes of friendship, romance, family, and tragedy, while still managing to be hilariously funny.
My Summary:

This was another fabulous book. Peter Friedman just had a huge life-changing event, but it wasn't over yet. His freshman year is going to be a year full of surprises good and bad. This story is so true to real life that it hurts. I never felt that it was fictional. I cried, I laughed, and I cheered when the boy gets the girl. The ending will make you sad, but it is still true to life. More writers need to follow Jordan Sonnenblick's example for extraordinary lifelike characters.

P.S. I am now currently reading the book Les Miserables by Victor Hugo. This is a 1,432 page book, so I hope I finish it soon. Not by the end of this year. Wish me luck.

Goodbye, Rebel Blue

LAST WEEK'S BOOK:

Goodbye, Rebel Blue a young adult novel by Shelley Coriell, published by Amulet Books/Abrams.

Goodbye, Rebel Blue
Shelley Corriel
299 pages

Overview (Direct from Shelley Corriel's website:

Rebecca Blue is a rebel with an attitude whose life is changed by a chance encounter with a soon-to-be dead girl. Rebel (as she’s known) decides to complete the dead girl’s bucket list to prove that choice, not chance, controls her fate. In doing so, she unexpectedly opens her mind and heart to a world she once dismissed—a world of friendships, family, and faith. With a shaken sense of self, she must reevaluate her loner philosophy—particularly when she falls for Nate, the golden boy do-gooder who never looks out for himself. Perfect for fans of Jay Asher’s blockbuster hit Thirteen Reasons Why, Coriell’s second novel features her sharp, engaging voice along with realistic drama and unforgettable characters.

My Summary:

This book was fabulous. Rebel wasnt the most liked or understood character in the book, but once she started following the list, things just came into place. The list that would have helped the dead girl's family instead came to help her's. Rebel grew. She wrestled with the idea of fate, gods, and destiny, but then she relazied that it didnt matter. So she could live her life how she wanted. I loved this book. It made me cry. You should read it too.

Other fabulous books:
