"Primatologist Jenny Lowe is studying bonobo chimpanzees deep in the Congo when she is caught in a deadly civil war that leaves a fellow researcher dead and his daughter, Lucy, orphaned. Realizing that the child has no living relatives, Jenny begins to care for Lucy as her own. But as she reads the late scientist’s notebooks, she discovers that Lucy is the result of a shocking experiment, and that the adorable, magical, wonderful girl she has come to love is an entirely new hybrid species—half human, half bonobo."
My opinion:
This book scares me. Its like the Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, ominous of the future, unless we change it.
Lucy is the story of a girl, half-human and half-bonobo (a type of ape). Born of a human father and ape mother, this hybrid eventually comes to live in America, through a set of sad circumstances, living with Dr.Lowe. Lucy begins to lead a normal life with her best friend Amanda and the doctor, who she started calling Mom. Sadly though this is the eye of the storm, the American government soon finds out about Lucy and eventually does the rest of the world. The way the people in the book acted reminded me soooo much of how everyone in this country is acting on controversial issues right now. So this book made me feel many different emotions and I hope we can find a better solution to our problems/controversies then what they did in the book.
